Charlotte Three-Under Par After NCAA Regional First Round

The Charlotte 49ers fifth-ranked men's golf team finished the first round of the NCAA East Regional at Council Fire Golf Club tied for 8th-place at three-under par 281. Georgia, one of the 49ers' playing partners in round one, leads the event at 19-under par. The teams battled rainy conditions, especially in the afternoon wave of teams. "Any team that played well this afternoon, my hats off to them," said 49ers head coach Jamie Green. "It wasn't brutal (conditions), but it did take patience and quality golf." Read Full Release

Thursday Night Baseball Postponed

Tonight's scheduled baseball contest between visiting Rhode Island and Charlotte has been postponed due to current rain and forecasted rain in the area. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Friday afternoon, with first pitch in game one to be thrown at 1 p.m. Read Full Release

Niners to Honor Seniors Saturday

Before Saturday's Atlantic 10 finale against Rhode Island, the Charlotte 49ers will honor their senior class of 2008. The four-year members of this class will leave Charlotte will the most wins of any senior class in the history of the program, at over 155. Read Full Release

Enander Hedin Named A-10 Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year

Charlotte 49ers senior Jonas Enander Hedin (Taby, Sweden) was named the Atlantic 10 Scholar-Athlete of the Year in Men's Golf and was joined by Stefan Wiedergruen (Waiblingen, Germany) on the Atlantic 10 all-Academic Team. Enander Hedin, who has led the fifth-ranked 49ers in stroke average over the last two years, owns a 3.75 GPA with a major in Managerial Leadership. Read Full Release

  • Jonas Enander Hedin, Golf: The nation's 8th-ranked player accepted an invite to the Palmer Cup and was selected one of five finalists for the Byron Nelson Award.

Golf Heads to NCAA East Regional Championships

  • The Charlotte 49ers golf team heads to Chattanooga, Tennessee for the NCAA East Regional Championship.
  • The Championship will be played May 15-17 at Council Fire Golf Club.
  • Earlier this season, the course hosted the Scenic City Invitational where sophomore Corey Nagy won first place, shooting a nine-under-par 204.
  • The 49ers are seeded a program-best 2nd at the NCAA East Regional in a 27-team field.
  • Charlotte captured its third straight Atlantic 10 Championship this season while head coach Jamie Green was named A-10 Coach of the Year for the third straight season.
